General Information

The Planning and Zoning Department administers several laws that affect landowners in Oneida County. These laws are designed to promote public health, safety and welfare, and provide for orderly land use development and future growth in Oneida County. Zoning regulations apply in the unincorporated areas of all 20 townships, except those lands in the Towns of Enterprise, Monico, and Sugar Camp which are greater than 1,000 feet from a lake or 300 feet from a river or stream.

Zoning permits are required for most structures, including seasonal and permanent dwellings, garages, storage buildings, decks, and grading or filling within 200 feet of the shoreland. A new business use of property, an expansion or change of the business use of the property also requires approval from this Department. Permits are also required for placements of signs.

Ordinance Change Notifications

Pursuant to Wis. Stat. §59.69(5)(f) annually the county shall inform residents of the county that they may add their names to a list to receive notice of any proposed ordinance or amendment that affects the allowable use of the property owned by the person.

If you would like to be informed of any proposed ordinance or amendment that affects the allowable use of your property, you can contact Oneida County at [email protected] or 715-369-6130. If you request to be provided with any ordinance or amendment that affects the allowable use of your property, you will receive all Planning and Zoning agendas and notices of public hearing. It would be up to you to determine if items on the agenda or proposed ordinance amendments would impact your property.
