On October 30, 2000 the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 was passed into law DMA2K. The law requires local governments to prepare an All-Hazards Mitigation Plan in order to be eligible for funding from FEMA through the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Assistance Program and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. 

Oneida County Emergency Management has developed an All Hazards Mitigation Plan that meet the requirement of DMA2K. Local municipalities have the opportunity to adopt this plan and meet the requirements of DMA2K.

Mitigation Projects

NOAA Weather Radio Program

                                    RadioOneida County Emergency Management received a $25,000.00 grant to purchase NOAA Weather Radios to be distributed to areas and individuals in the County that are considered “Special Needs” locations.  For more information regarding this program contact the Oneida County Emergency Management Department.

 DNR Fire Zone Mapping Project

                                    Zones MapOneida County Emergency Management received a $12,500.00 in Mitigation funding to develop DNR fire zones.  These zones were developed to provide a quick and efficient response to forest fires.  The project was completed with the assistance of the Oneida County Emergency Management Department, Oneida County Land Information Department, the DNR, and North Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission.
